Its a good idea to look at it each and every year.

Tag it to your birthday or some special occasion that you won’t forget.

Even if you are running your credit life well, there are mistakes made by the agencies running the credit bureau’s and something may have been added to your report in error.

Good thing to stay on top of ~ particularly in today’s climate of ID theft and other nasty out there in cyber space and otherwise.

all the best to you

Every year you are allowed one free credit score check which won’t affect your credit score (constantly checking your credit score can bring down your credit score) I think losing your debit card shouldn’t affect your credit score unless some used you debit card to make purchase on items and overcharge or couldn’t make the payments on the item the purchased using your card.

Included a link to a respected personal finance blog…if you look to the right hand side of the blog you can get a free credit check with 30 day monitoring…not bad of a deal.

First, your debit card has no affect on your credit report or score. You should contact your bank to cancel the lost card and get a new one.

Secondly, you can get a free annual credit report from each of the three credit bureaus thru AnnualCreditReport.com. This is the ONLY site that doesn’t require you to sign up for monitoring services — a complete waste of money. Get one credit bureau every 4 months to space out thru the year. This is the best way to monitor for accuracy.

The reports are free but you have to pay for scores. Since you’ve only had your credit card since March, you barely have a score. It’s not worth spending money to check. You really don’t need to check your score more than once a year, if that often. The best place to check your score is MyFico.com. You get the real, up-to-date FICO score that creditor’s use, not the Fakko score that some sites sell.

Also, pulling your own credit report does not take points off your score. Only credit inquiries generated by credit applications are hard pulls and ding your score.

Don’t fall into the trap of obsessing over your score. It is really only a very small part of a creditor’s decision. If you pay all your bills on time and monitor your credit report for accuracy, your score will take care of itself.
