If a late payment fee is reversed by my credit card company, will I still take a bad hit on my credit report?

late payment
Dixie Normous asked:

I forgot to pay on time last month (bad, I know). The bank assessed a late payment fee but I called them and they reversed the penalty as a courtesy. Will this still show up on my credit report as a late payment or will the negative hit be removed by next month?

You have to call the bank and confirm that they will not report late payement to Credit bureaus. They may make consideration for you for the first time but later they would just refuse. Try to set online payment system where you can pay your bills online. I always pay my bills online and rarely use postage.

Lab Tech Mike Says:

Well if they just reversed the fee then yes it will show on your credit report. However if they dont report it as being late then no. I would call and find out.

sukbunny Says:

It probably wouldn’t show up at all..I wouldn’t worry about it.

Cookie Says:

They could still raise your rate and report it to your credit report

Bob Says:

Normally you don’t get reported unless you are 30 days late, i.e. missed a whole billing cycle. However, being late means you were late, regardless of whether the bank charges a late fee or not.

bigdog Says:

should not they let you slide a time or two before that report it most card companies will report every 3 months
