I want to raise my credit score about 300 points?

raise credit points
sweet_darkness1421 asked:

I want to raise my credit score at least 300 points. I have a car loan that I haven’t missed or made a late payment. I want to be able to get a house in the next few years. I can’t get a credit card, I can only get a secured one. Which I was thinking of getting one of those soon. How long would it take me to get it that high? What are some detailed things I can do to help my score?

Don’t bother with the secured credit card. It will have little effect on your credit. Your credit score essentially states how risky it would be to loan you money. The risk is based on several factors. First your income. How much money you make compared to your expenses. Second your payment history. Paying bills on time. There are other considerations such as age, criminal history etc. To increase your credit score by 300 points you need to pay every bill you get on time. That means rent, utilities, loans, credit cards etc. You also need to stay in the same job for a long period of time. Steady employment will improve your score also. If you do not qualify for a credit card I would attempt to get some sort of department store charge card. They usually have more lenient guidelines for granting lines of credit. Try a furniture store, buy something that you can pay off in about 6 months and then pay it ON TIME. Also do your best to create a solid savings account. Mortgage companies will want to see that you are responsible and can save enough for a down payment before they give you a loan for a home.

Give it time. Credit takes time to build. Keep paying your car loan, don’t pay it late.

Don’t get a secured card, they will hurt more than they help. Most credit people see them as a sign of desperation.

Buy a house using an FHA loan, it is for buyers with good payment histories that have low credit scores. Find an FHA lender in your area. They even offer low downpayment options.

To improve your score, pay your bills, don’t do stupid things like getting credit cards for no reason. Don’t buy things just to buy them. Don’t open new accounts. Save your money, savings is key to buying a home.

To raise your credit score you need to do two things:

1 – add positive things to your credit records. Such as paying your bills on time!

2 – Remove negative things from your records. These may be mistakes made by the credit report companies or bills you haven’t paid!
