I sent cash4gold.com 5 ounces of Credit Suisse 99.99% gold bars and get $20.40?

credit suisse
Chris J asked:

I watched a cash4gold.com commercial on TV so I went on their website. They claimed that checks were sent within 24 hours of getting the gold and that I should use them since they melt the gold and cutoff the middleman. I thought I could get extra cash with gold prices so high so I took all 5 of my Credit Suisse 99.99% 1oz gold bars and sent it to them. 13 days later I finally get mail from cash4gold.com and I was shocked to see I only get $20.40?! I get just $4.08 for each gold bar? This is stealing!! When I called them about this issue the person said that an error was made and that I should send back the check. So I did that and after 3 days of waiting I call them again and now they say I never sent them anything or got a check at all.

What do I do?
caligirl all those suggestions don’t work!

I returned the check and I didn’t get anything back! TV stations don’t care. District Attorney doesn’t care. I don’t even have proof that I sent them gold for small claims court plus I would have to file in the same state that they reside in.
Also they determine how much your gold is worth, what a scam really.

“Cash4Gold’s offer of just $209.81 was far from top dollar, it was the lowest of all those received.

GCAL’s expert Don Palmieri laughed when Meagher showed him what Cash4Gold said the jewelry was worth.” :(

Sad to say that you learn from your mistakes and move on. You should never have sent the check back, that was your proof that they owe you. They are rip off people. You can be reassured that they will not be in business long.

Bones Fan Says:

If you are not holding registered mail receipts for all that stuff, you are pretty screwed. Anyway, you could have done better selling them to a reputable local gold dealer or on ebay.

Aw, I’m so sorry. This is a mistake that you should learn from. Never trust anybody until you read online about it, etc. There’s not much you can do really :( .

Don’t be too hard on yourself, though.

DAR Says:

At least file a complaint so others are warned. It also might get their attention.

It doesn’t sound good though, unless you kept good records (copy of the check etc.)

CaliGirl Says:

This is what their website says: If for any reason you feel that any of your
items have not been fairly evaluated by Cash4Gold, simply return our check or call within ten (10) days of the date on the check. Cash4Gold will promptly return your items. That I guarantee!

If this does not work, report them to FBI.gov.

Also, go to oversight websites like “Scam busters.com” and others and read up on the other charges against them. See if there is a class action suit you can become a part of.

Write to the television station and network that plays their ads and let them know.

Report the whole situation to your Distrist Attorney under the consumer affairs department

File a case in small claims court for the amount and check to see if other cases have been filed against them so you can read the charges and proceed in a similar action.

I am really sorry this happened to you!

As a landed jeweler in Tennessee, I see this all the time.
I buy gold from my customers and pay top dollar, but these scammers on TV make the deal look so sweet, a few of my customers have gotten burned after they decided that they could do better with this company.

I hate to tell ‘em “I told you so.” but…

JC Says:

The fact that you ‘supposably’ did not send the check back is irrelevant. They still owe you a considerable amount more than that $20.40. I have seen these commercials and Im wondering where it states what they will pay for each ounce. Im only asking because if they never state it to you before you send your gold, then how can you say they are stealing if no set amount per ounce is negotiated?

Call the better business bureau. they don;t have a great track record, but they seem to settle complaints that are filed
