Consumer Credit Counseling Services is the largest and oldest non-profit counseling service in the nation and has offices in all major cities.

You can contact them at 1-800-388-2227.

I used them several years ago and they lowered my interest rate & monthly payments. I was debt free in 36-months.

Check this site to fine one in your area: . This is Consumer Credit Counseling Service, a legit non-profit company that provides credit counseling. They also have debt management programs if you qualify.

Going into a debt management program affects your credit score pretty much like filing bankrutpcy. The difference being that once you complete the program, you will have a good payment history.

It is a very bad idea to shift credit card debt to another loan, expecially into your mortgage. Not only do you end up paying a lot more interest due to the extended time, but if you can’t pay, they take your home.
