How can I get the rest of my debt erased off my credit after bankruptcy?

credit bankruptcy
mommy23girlys asked:

My bankruptcy has been discharged for two years now. Mostly all the debt on my credit has been deleted, but there are about 6 items left. On the report, it says in the comment section “included in Chapter 7 bankruptcy”. How can I get the remaining ones removed?
Yes, the items remaining were all included in the bankruptcy. They say “included in bankruptcy” and it has been discharged. All the the other accounts were deleted off my credit. But there are 6 still on there. I thought I could just have them removed also since they were with the bankruptcy.

It sounds like your credit report contains factually true statements. You don’t state if the creditor is still trying to collect or not.

You can’t…It will stay on your credit report for 7 years..The bankruptcy stays on your credit report for 10 years. You can review more at or If the debts are there after 7 years, you can call the credit bureau and dispute them, most of the time they fall off at the 7.5 yr mark. Good Luck!

If the creditors do not want to remove it there is nothing that can be done. When you file bankruptcy all the creditors have to do is go in and remove the outstanding balance and they must list that this debt is included in bankrupcty. So as long as these things have been done that is all that is required. I do know some will go in and delete their entire entry but they don’t have too.

Any debts which were not discharged in the bankruptcy must be paid. So the one which says “included in Chap 7 bankruptcy” should be discharged, but it will remain on your credit report for 10 years after discharge. (Foreclosures & bankruptcies stay on credit report for 10 years; other items for 7 years.)

What are the other 6 items? Were they included in the bankruptcy or not? If not discharged in the bankruptcy, you still have to pay. And they will remain on your report for 7 years after the account is paid in full and closed.

You cannot get any of these items removed from your report! Only errors can be removed.

It’s possible that there was a mistake, (hint). You can write to the credit reporting agencies and ask them to investigate. If they get no response from the creditor then the item must be removed. If they do respond then you can wait a while and try again. Likely you will need to wait it out if the creditor responds.

Good luck.

I also had a banruptcy, but it will be discharged for the 2 year deal this coming summer 2009. The credit bureaus can keep all this on your credit for 7-10 years if they want. I just looked on Transunion for myself and it gave a 7 year take off. Equifax doesn’t say anything and Experian, I haven’t seen my report yet. Which reporting agency was it? I am suprised that you got almost all removed. It normally desn’t work that way.
