Does a Wage Garnishment to pay tax affect credit score?

tax credit score

After moving out of the state, Fairfax Co VA assessed a 1 time Wage garnishment to me for failing to pay personal property tax. This is a small amount (less than $250) and was paid in full in one pay period.

Anjell Says:

It’s not the garnishment that hurts your score it’s the judgement that was issued by the court to garnish your wages is what’s hurting your score. It will be reported on your credit report for 7-10 years from the date you paid the debt.

SPIFIMAN1 Says:

Wage garnishments do not show on credit reports so unless they went to court and got a judgment or filed a tax lien it should have no affect on your credit.
