credit help?

credit help
shabookie asked:

I am 17 years old, still in highschool, and plan on moving out of my house in May 2007. Before I move I want to make sure that I have some form of credit. Does anyone know any way to go about that, any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have a 2nd hand car paid for directly in hard earned cash, no bank loans or anything, so a car is not an option.

Don’t get any. The money goes farther that way.

Buy a car. Get some sort of loan. Don’t get a credit card.

In most states you have to be 18 to even apply for credit. Unless you can find a mom& pop store that will give you credit, you will have to wate.

There is no company going to even offer you credit until you are 18. The only realistic way is to have someone cosign a credit card for you, preferably someone with good credit.

BIG TIP IS: too much credit can get you make you appear to be too much of a risk. Sign up for one (1) credit card. Buy an item you can pay off when the statement comes. Buying something each month that you can pay off the entire balance each month, will help you build a good credit history. By June of next year, you should have a pretty good start to good credit history.

apply for a student credit card. Citi offers are good. Go for a one with no annual fee. Once u get it make sure u pay the balance fully at the end of the month.

You need to get a credit card and pay the minimum charges by the end of each month. It helps you establish credit, and creditors can see you have credit and are using it wisely.

Good Luck-
