Can I claim a hybrid tax credit on 2007 year taxes if I claimed one in the 2006 tax year?

The dealership we bought it from (we purchased new in Feb. 2006) told us that we would be able to claim the credit for a few years. Is this true? Or did we only get a one time tax credit?

I have a hybrid and the tax credit can only be claimed once in the year of purchase. I bought my ’05 in December of ’04 and was able to claim it on my ’04 taxes. Good Luck!

If you bought one car, you get one credit attempt in the year you bought it.

If you bought ANOTHER car in 2007, you can request a second credit.

Judy Says:

You only claim it once, the year you bought it new. If you bought a second qualifying hybrid later, then you could claim a second credit.
